Our conversion story

My dear sisters, I have become impressed to share with you my beginnings of conversion that started long before you were born. You see, back when I first joined the church (I was eight), the following day after my baptism, I lied to my mother. Realizing the error later that night, I turned to the Lord in prayer and in my innocence, I asked why I was so flawed. Our dear Father in Heaven said through the new gift of the Holy Ghost, "Nathan, I am glad that you realize your error. I know that you are not my Begotten, but you are my son. I have brought you here at this time to learn your place and who you are. You will be a great teacher and leader if you are patient and a good listener". I reflected on the moment because at the time I wept that I was so imperfect. I saw only my flaws.  Some years later I was a missionary. My first three months, I lost two relatives and was with a harsh and an abusive trainer, I was constantly comparing myself to my MTC companion who had sacrific...

Love Wisconsin

My dear Sister, It sounds like you are learning the action words on the scriptures. Joy, Charity,  Faith, Hope... all of these are action words. To get any of these words you need to do service. Service of all kinds bring these feelings to light. Through service true joy and charity is given and received; faith is grown and a stronger hope for yourself and those that you serve and have gained charity for.  The point is, your heart will be fuller because you are bringing the light of Christ to people who are looking for a glimmer of hope. You have seen how hearts change because you have given them further light and knowledge of what the Savior has done for and through his prophets and good people.  I remember how people cleaned up their lives and homes because they wanted more faith and have help in their unbelief. They became the clean and delightful people because of a simple message of  a Christ they hope that he is. The Savior that when his hem of his garment addr...

light and dark

I'm so proud of you! My dear niece, I have found that at times, life is like walking down a dark street with street lights. I'll explain. When we feel dirty filthy and unworthy, we are in the dark times but it is when we are touched by the light that in seeing our filth we seek to be clean. Each time we come to a new light, the desire increases.  My dear sister, some avoid the light because in seeing their filth they become embarrassed and seek to hide. You are bringing the light to those that in their sorrow are begging for mercy because they feel unworthy and ashamed. Let them know that perfection is a process and charity to others shows our Father ow much we want that mercy for ourselves and others.  Lead them to the light through example. We love you.  Onkel Nate

Two by two

My dear Sisters, This conference weekend I was reflecting on the scriptures. The Doctrine and Covenants says... 22 And we ask thee, Holy Father, that thy servants may go forth from this house armed with thy power, and that thy name may be upon them, and thy glory be round about them, and thine angels have charge over them; 23 And from this place they may bear exceedingly great and glorious tidings, in truth, unto the ends of the earth, that they may know that this is thy work, and that thou hast put forth thy hand, to fulfil that which thou hast spoken by the mouths of the prophets, concerning the last days. D&C 109:22-23 Let this weekend and the rest of your mission be a example to others. Sisters, this moment in your life is pivotal to all those who see and hear you. I reflected upon my imperfection but realized that though the Saviors perfection (and so my own) seems far fetched, but fear not, my perfection is not going to be obtained in this life. Like the great North Star in t...
