The great prosecutor
Elders, In Hebrew, Satan means Prosecutor, the one who brings us to judgment. How fitting for the one who brings things to light (Lucifer means light-bringer) to also be the one to tell on us to the Father of how we are naked before Him so that we can be punished for the transgressions and sins he suggested. Ok, that was a bit dark. My apologies. Let's talk about something else. The Gospel is like a car. Hear me out. Let us suppose that the Gospel has always been with us for thousands of years only to be destroyed by the cunning of Satan. This "car" had an engine of working saints who worked in a messy unison for the betterment of the children of God. It had fuel and oiled parts that were provided by the Savior's Atonement. It had the power of the priesthood to move from heart to heart, blessing and edifying each person it touched.
