The Vail
Elders,
I recently watched a video of a saint struggling to find the temple in the Book of Mormon. It was at this time that he read in Eather 3:6...
"And it came to pass that when the brother of Jared had said these words, behold, the Lord stretched forth his hand and touched the stones one by one with his finger. And the veil was taken from off the eyes of the brother of Jared, and he saw the finger of the Lord; and it was as the finger of a man, like unto flesh and blood; and the brother of Jared fell down before the Lord, for he was struck with fear."
Brothers, we come to the temple, to a Vail to see the finger of the Lord to touch our testimony, touch our hearts, to brighten us. While we have a Veil over our eyes, ears, minds, and hearts, remember that it is there to allow us to behold the Lord line upon line so that the veil, that precious Veil, will cover us from the storms that threaten to destroy us.
Elders, we wear the emblems of the Vail, so that we can find comfort in the Lord who is so close that he covers our very nakedness. The tokens that we wear are constant reminders that we are on a course to be like the Savior and to be with the Savior. The compass and square are a constant reminder that we are sailors in a turbulent sea of chaos called life. We must be vigilant in correcting our course to God. Elders, He, the great shepherd, has given us all of the keys and power to see His face. His law is our law. His sons and daughters through covenant, we call sisters and brothers, and at this time, you brothers, are looking for the sheep that seek to be and know God.
Be patient and kind but vigilant in your search. Pray always, in private and public, bear your testimony daily to strangers, and study (not just read) your scriptures and seek to expound your understanding of the Father and His Beloved Son. The Holy Ghost will be your companion if you invite Him.
You guys are awesome! Thank you for sharing your testimony and experience with me. I love you, brothers. You are kin and my friends. God bless you.
Brother Bingham
